Protection Technicians install, commission, maintain and calibrate all types of protective relaying, metering and recording systems. The ongoing changes in technology make it necessary for Protection Technicians to continuously upgrade both skills and knowledge.
Protection Trainees participate in a two-year training program consisting of guided field experience gained by rotation through various departments and approximately 1,100 hours of classroom and hands-on learning time. Once this program is completed, the trainee will be granted Protection Technician status.
