Co-operative Education Program

Co-operative Education Programs are programs which formally integrate a student's academic studies with work experience in employer organizations. Students will alternate periods of experience in appropriate fields of business, industry, government, social services and other professions. Selected students will be able to transfer their academic learning into a corporate work environment.

This will also help students apply knowledge in a work setting, help clarify your career direction, and assist in developing your confidence in your skills and abilities.

Program Description

All Co-operative Education students will work in paid co-op positions through various schedules determined by the program. These schedules meet the needs of the students and sponsoring department.

Program Framework

Students must be registered in a Co-operative Educational Program through their school. Full-time paid employment will be provided for the work term (length of work term is determined by your school's co-op program).

Opportunities exist in a number of areas that support the academic pursuits of students in the Co-operative Educational Programs. Manitoba Hydro provides a job description of each opportunity, interviews students and selects suitable applicants.

How to Apply

All students must register with STEP Services. An invitation to apply may be posted at your school, or resumes may be organized through your co-op program coordinator. You can also send your resume to summerstudent@hydro.mb.ca requesting a co-op opportunity.

Manitoba Hydro will review applications and communicate with the educational institution. All co-op opportunities will be explored and confirmed through the institution's contact person.
